OS 7 & Chrome

Google Chrome OS is a project by Google Inc. to develop a lightweight computer operating system devoted to using the web. Announced on July 7, 2009, it will be based on Google’s Chrome web browser and the Linux kernal. It will initially be targeted at netbooks and is set to be released during the second half of 2010. It will run on systems with either x86 or ARM processors. Google has stated that the Google Chrome OS project will be open source by the end of 2009, and that it will use “a new windowing system”, rather than the X Window system used by desktop environments such as GNOME or KDE.

 Windows 7
is the latest version of Microsoft Windows. It includes number of new features, such as advances in touch and handwriting recognition, support for virtual hard disks, improved performanec on heterogeneous graphics cards , a new version of windows media cetner, improved media features, XPS essentials pack and windows powershell,recovery,troubleshooting,workspaces center, location,biometric devices, system icons, and display.
Couple reasons why you should make the switch to windows 7 today. First for Vista haters. Wether you are one of the nearly 19 % of consumers who are actually running windows vista and dont like it, or those who hate purely based on anecdotal stories.Common complaint about vista are poor device driver support and annoyance over UAC pop up alerts. Windows 7 has superior device support. Second XP diehards. secutiy is best reason for windows XP user to make the switch. improvements in the user interface make it simpler and intuitive to work with operating system.Third Home networking.Microsoft is offering windows 7 in family pack with 3 licensed copies to allow families to upgrade all the systems in the home at a discount.four, media sharing.Windows 7 makes it fairly seamless and intuitive to share audio and video media between the various devices on the network. You can access and share libraries, play audio and video files to remote systems on the network, copy recorded shows from one system to another, and more with relative ease.

Google states that Chrome is being designed in a minimalist way, much like its Chrome web browser. In this way, the company hopes to move much of the user interface from the desktop environment to the web. Cloud computing will be a large part of its design. It has stated that, for developers, “the web is the platform”. The Chrome OS is being targeted at users who spend most of their computer time on the internet, and is designed to run on computers ranging from netbooks to desktop computers. Google has stated that the Chrome OS is separate from its Andriod operating system, which was designed primarily for use on smarphones.

Also, Google announced that the Chrome OS will feature a novel security architecture. According to Google’s official announcement, they will be “going back to the basics and completely redesigning the underlying security architecture of the OS so that users don’t have to deal with viruses, malware and security updates”

i like the first one because it is extremely effective advertising and the one about windows 7 because it tells us all the new features. the first one seems to have had a lot of thought put into it which makes me happy. I like how we are being updated on the newest updates on windows 7.

Windows Vista

       Windows vista was released on january thirtieth in the year of two thousand seven to the public world. It is a 64 bit that can handle one hundred twenty eight gigabytes of RAM. It is recomended to use NTFS as the filing system but it also supports FAT16 and 32. The larger recomended file size for the NTFS is two terabytes although much more can be stored. This bad boy will cost you anywher from two hundred to three hundred twenty dollers.

Windows XP

     The operating system Windows XP was released for the P.C. by microsoft on the twenty fifth of october in two thousand one. Many versions of this OS have come out and one of them is bound to be atleast close to what you want. A few of thies versions were set up to run on 64 bit. This operating system can handle four to eight gigabytes of RAM. XP uses a FAT32 file system which can hold up to 2 terabytes in data and the cost of such an OS is only going to cost you from around one hundred to four hundred dollers.

Google Latitude

 Google latitude is a program by google which allows you to see wher your friends are at almost any time. thier are concerns about privacy but none so serious as to condem the product (Its free so you cant complain). the images you upload can be used for things you would not want them used for and stockers are possible users of this pogram. facebook is also a possibly hazerdous site (your face may be stolen). I do not think employers should be able to research amployees, I wouldnt want my employer to know what i did on the weekend.

images you post on face book and sites such as that can be used in ways you wouldnt want them to. I have herd of one story wher a young girl went to japan and found her picture on the side of a bus advertising some pop product. that would not be good. i personally have never put my picture on the internet because of theis concerns, although i am being undermind by my friends and their infureating picture posting.

with google latitude people would be able to stalk you which would not be good. although if you had a cool stalker for example a rich guy that would be kind of awsome. he could come and buy you things which would be pretty good. you can turn latitude off if you want incase you go to those discreate places.

NO EMPLOYER SHOULD SEARCH FOR YOU ON THE INTERNET! unless of course you are friends. if they want to know that bad they can ask you. i personally would feel vialated if anyone but my friends new what i was doing.

What happens when i go to a website?

when you type in a web adress such as www.holycross.bc.ca the name goes to a DNS (Domain Name System) which translates that into a binary number or the IP adress which is like the adress of the website.  the information sent back and forth isnt just gibberish it is called HTTP which is like the language it uses. after that its sent to diffirent places and eventually to the server and the server sends the data you want in little tiny chuncks back the way it came

1 means that you use the number on top 0 means you ignore it. Add all the top numbers that have a 1 underneath them and that’s how you go from binary to Arabic numbers. To go from Arabic to binary numbers it is a bit harder. Its more a trial and error game. You have to find which numbers add up to your Arabic number and use them. Sometimes you have to add extra bytes (the 8 column graph above is 1 byte and each

I find that McCain has not used the internet as well as his adversary and now leader, Barack Obama. Barack Obama’s web site is certainly more esthetically pleasing than McCain’s site which seems to be disorganised and cluttered. Obama also seems to be using youtube more effectively by putting his own commercials on it. When i search McCain on youtube all i see is negativity. Obama also has a viral campaign which he fuels with the internet. McCain just does not have that buzz that Obama has.

McCain’s site seems crouded while Obama’s web site seems open with a nice blue backround giving you a sense of peace and calm. McCain does have a blue background as well but it is a solid dark blue that dominates his site. Obama has diffirent shades of blue and a nice balance between the blue and white. Obama also has fireworks and “thankyou” written on the front page which makes you feel like your saving a country with just one vote.

As i have said before McCain has nothing but negativity when you search his name on youtube but Obama has his plan for America and even has tributes to him. I cant understand why McCain did not fight against this. I would think he would have realized how many people go onto youtube. Youtube was one of the ways Obama fueled the buzz on himself and if McCain had done something about it he might have won.

The thing that started the buzz on Barack Obama was the fact that he is black. Once Barack recognized that everyone was talking about him he looked to fuel it so that everybody would be talking about him throughout the campaign. He did this by using the internet. He used youtube to explain to America what he wanted to do. He also used sights like facebook and myspace which McCain didnt use so well.

After that election we now know how the internet can be used to help a campaign but how well will it be used in the future? maybe subliminal messaging will come into play. I dont think it has been proven to work but i dont think it could hurt. Maybe it has already been used. Who knows wher the internet net will take us? Let us hope it will never be used for evil.

          Apparently a 15 year old took a data base full of names and drivers licenses (and more) from a school computer. He sent an E-mail to his principle telling him what he found and was arrested on charges to many for me to list. All of the charges are wrong on the grounds that he was trying to warn the principle that his information was not safe. Hopefully he will be released. If Anti-children principles continue to plague this continent we will eventually become a third world country because as we all know children are our future and if we don’t let them learn they will know nothing. This means we will all act like monkeys!

        Some people say (U.S.A. intelligent officers) that twitter can be used by terrorists. The earthquake that hit the U.S. was posted on twitter before local media got it. Maybe Terrorists could be able to communicate with each other over it. If this happens we will have a harder time with terrorists which no one wants because then we will all die.

          Google now has a fighter jet. I know, that’s awesome but what happens when Google buys an entire army? Google will take over the world and we will be the one paying them to do it.
